LED Lighting
LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are small, solid light bulbs which are extremely energy-efficient. Initially, LEDs were limited to single-bulb use in applications such as instrument panels, electronics, pen lights and, most recently, strings of indoor and outdoor Christmas lights.
Today, LED lighting products are manufactured by grouping several bulbs per cluster, and encasing them in diffuser lenses which distribute greater luminosity. LEDs are becoming the next generation in lighting.
The Specific Benefits of LED Lighting
Energy Efficient – Light bulbs remain cool, while incandescent bulbs emit 98% of their energy as heat! Much more bang for the buck.
Long Life – LED bulbs last up to 15 times as long as compact fluorescents and far longer than typical incandescents.
Rugged Durability – LED lights have no fragile filament or tubing. They are resistant to heat, cold, and shock.
Cool – Bulbs do not cause heat build-up. LEDs produce 3.4 btu's/hour, compared to 85 btu's/hour for incandescent bulbs.
Mercury-FREE – No mercury is used in the manufacturing of LEDs. This means safer, healthier light.
Efficient/Cost Effective –LED light bulbs use only 2-10 watts of electricity (1/3rd to 1/30th of Incandescent or CFL) Small LED flashlight bulbs will extend battery life 10 to 15 times longer than with incandescent bulbs.
Expenses are cut down since bulbs last for years, and you will be spending less on batteries and electricity. |
